April 13, 2013 E-Mail!

And just like that another week passes by... lame.

Extra, Extra read all about it!
--Elder Gadberry is rockin a new pair of shoes
--General Conference was beast and a half as always!
--And I forgot my journal to look at to know what to talk about!

haha We'll see what I remember...

So about what I mentioned already.. So last week we had that investigator give me those new shoes and I love him for it! Well I love him no matter what but especially for being so kinda as to offer me his shoes. Well what I didn't mention because yeah just because is that they're not the highest quality so the leather, well I'm pretty sure its not really leather, but within the first day of wearing them it started cracking and falling off and stuff.. It kinda looked like skin whenever you start peeling from the sun.. haha But anyways Mythor still rocks and a half. So I was wearing those shoes one day and we were teaching Brother Chris who is the nonmember husband of one of the members. He's always been nice and listened to the missionaries but hasn't ever committed to baptism or anything and he doesn't wanna feel like he's being forced into something. So now its finally our turn to try again.. haha So in our first visit with him we just told him that we weren't going to ask him to do anything that he doesn't wanna do or doesn't feel comfortable doing, we just challenge him to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it and thats it. We're not going to force him to go to church, we're not going to even talk about baptism. Just read the book. So now even in our return appointments there we're just going to sit down and read a chapter in the BoM with them and help him pray and get an answer if its true. But anyways after our first lesson with him. We shook hands, thanked them for their time, and headed out. We were like halfway down the road when his daughter came running and was like Elder! Tawag ka ni Momma. Which means mom's calling for you. So I was like okay... why..? Apparently after we had left brother had gone in and gotten a couple pairs of his shoes and wanted me to take one... So yeah. This guy rocks and a half too. And these shoes are doing good thus far! I'm wearing them right now. haha

And so yeah. General Conference was super cool! I loved it! Umm... Let me think about which ones I liked the best.. Starting with Priesthood session.. I really liked Tad R. Callister for some reason. I really liked how he taught that as a leader we don't shine best when we give a great lesson or when we are in the spotlight, but we really shine best when those under us per say are in the spotlight and rockin it. Pres. Uchtdorf also had two awesome talks! He mentioned in Priesthood one of the things I truly believe. That if we truly understand our relationship with God as one of His children. It will completely change our life, our actions, and how we face adversity. That was also taught by Elder Christoffel Golden Jr. on Sunday. One of my favorites was also definitely Elder Craig A Cardon's about repentance. He taught repentance in that talk as well as I've ever heard it. As always I love Elder Scott's. And of course Jeffrey R. Holland's was great as always! And I really loved Elder Erich Kopishcke's talk about being accepted of God. But it was also super important what he said about feeling accepted is really important no matter what and is a great motivating factor for people. But of course they were allll good! I sat on the edge of my chair for all five sessions eagerly taking notes. Now I'm going back over my notes and adding more thoughts and ideas and scriptures and making goals as to how I can apply stuff that stuck out to me into my life. Good stuff!

Umm.. unfortunately.. I can't remember anything else that was too exciting or funny... I wish I had my journal... haha But oh well. I at least got some pictures for you. Most of them aren't from this week cuz I just now stole them from Elder Phillips's camera.

Well, I hope you guys have a great another great week!

Love
Elder Michael Gadberry
